- You are Location-Independent: Your job is 100% online. You can work from Rome, Milan, or a beach in Sicily without any problems.
- You are "Highly Qualified": You have the credentials: either a University Degree, a recognized 3-year professional qualification, OR proven work experience (3 years for Tech pros, 5 years for others).
- You have the Funds: You earn at least €28,000 gross per year to support yourself.

The place to apply for the Digital Nomad or Remote Worker visa is the Italian embassy or consulate in the jurisdiction where you currently reside.

Take Charlotte. Born in Chicago, now living in New York. She’s dreaming of Italy, so she’ll apply at the Italian Consulate in New York, since that’s where she’s legally resident.

Then there’s Olivia, a super-smart American woman who moved to Toronto three years ago. She’s done with those brutal Canadian winters but wants to keep her job benefits. She would apply through the Italian Consulate in Toronto.
What if there is not an Italian embassy/consulate in the city where I live?

For example, if you're in Austin, Texas, go to the site above. Select “STATI UNITI D’AMERICA” (Italian translation for United States of America) under Country, enter “AUSTIN, TX,” and hit Search. You'll land at the Italian Consulate in Houston, Texas.

But have you already tried to find an available slot?
Maybe you’ve logged in several times, hunting for a date, but everything always seems booked (or broken).
It happened to me, and now we want to share the trick that lets us snag a good spot for my application: The Italian government refreshes available dates right after midnight Italian time between Sunday and Monday. Just log in during that window (after converting the time zone), and you should be able to see open slots. For example, if you’re in the American East Coast, it would be at around 6pm your time.
This guide helps you gather all required documents as quickly and easily as possible. Even with our support, some documents take months to arrive, and others must be requested in a specific order.
Plan ahead by estimating your timeline and booking your Consulate/Embassy appointment with at least one or two extra months as a buffer.
If you need to reschedule, cancel the original and book a new one since they don’t take duplicate appointments.
